A plantation is a collection of natural plants of a single species that are usually grown for a commercial benefit. Coconut, banana, tea, palm oil and rubber are the most common in Sri Lanka. Secondary crops may also be grown below some of these trees. Each requires extensive cultivation, thinning, fertilizing and harvesting by skilled hands to get the best crops.
